Hiking in the Rauris Valley

With its five side valleys, all with unique features, the 30-km long Rauris Valley is one of the most beautiful, multi-faceted, and the largest hiking regions in the Hohe Tauern Nationalpark. Over 295 kilometres of well-marked hiking trails & via ferrate, at varying levels of difficulty, await to be conquered by you & your hiking partners.

Approximately 30 farmed alpine pastures, with charming chalets, traditional "Almen", can be discovered along the hiking trails here. Take a rest, refresh with a cool drink and indulge in well-deserved traditional delicacies offered by the welcoming owners in the Hohe Tauern Nationalpark.

A Glimpse of Rauris Forest

Named one of the 33 best educational nature trails in Austria, the path through Rauris’ untouched nature offers a wide variety of new experiences. The pristine mountain forest is home to a diverse, rich and largely protected variety of animals with over 80 marshes, unique plant species, century-old spruces, and mighty pines.

Hochalm Adventure Mountain

Take the environmentally friendly Hochalm lifts to easily ascend to 1,800 metres above sea level. Enjoy breath-taking views of the Goldberg Group mountain range, Großglockner Mountain, the Niederen Tauern range, Steinerne Meer Mountains, Hochkönig Mountain, and the Dachstein Mountain. Various family-friendly hiking trails lead into the diverse alpine landscape. One trail, Tilly's forest trail, is one of the favourites with its stunningly beautiful setting amidst nature.

Accessible Holidays in Rauris

We are accessible to all our guests. We believe in the importance to ensure our Haus Renate is accessible to all holiday makers. We renovated to ensure the necessary requirements for wheelchair users are considered in December 2016. From then on we have been able to offer accessible apartments. Two apartments are situated on the ground floor, while three accessible holiday flats are on the third floor, with quick & easy access via the newly built lift as well as two accessible entrances.
